Videos

Our library provides access to several video collections. Academic Video Online (AVON) provides access to about 80,000 videos covering a wide range of subject areas, including art-related topics. Kanopy Streaming Videos collection provides high-quality full-length films and documentaries from hundreds of top producers, including some intended to inform about art and art history topics and others that can help you learn various art techniques and skills.

To access AVON:

  1. Go to thLeeward Library website [New Window]
  2. Click on Research Databases; then click on A-Z Databases
  3. From the complete list of databases choose Academic Video Online (AVON)
  4. Enter keywords in the search box or choose a topic from the Browse Subjects listing.

To access Kanopy Streaming Videos:

  1. Go to the Leeward Library website [New Window]
  2. Click on Research Databases; then click on A-Z Databases
  3. From the complete list of databases choose Kanopy Streaming Videos 
  4. Enter keywords in the search box or choose a subject from the "Browse" drop down menu
  5. Starting October 4, 2018, a personal account login is required to play a video. If you do not have an account, click on the Sign Up button when accessing a video.

Web resources

The Art Genome Project -- This resource offers an innovative way to learn about art and artists organized by their similarities. A multitude of  characteristics are available to explore art history as well as contemporary and present day artists' works.

Kahn Academy -- Kahn Academy provides access to videos and other online learning resources in various subject areas, including Art HistoryLearn the basics, or specific topics about the history of art in different areas of the world. This resource is available for everyone and you can use it to learn the topics that interest you at your own pace. 

MoMA Learning Tools & Tips -- Specially useful for instructors: a myriad of resources, including slideshows and worksheets, for teaching and learning modern art and art movements.
