Use of library resources and facilities is a privilege granted to registered students, faculty, and staff of Leeward Community College. Affiliated users and visitors to Leeward Community College are also welcome, but services are limited.
All library users are expected to conduct themselves per the Library's Acceptable Behavior Policy.
The open-concept Learning Commons area is a collaborative study zone for students working individually or in groups. Some noise can be expected in this area, but we require everyone using the area to be respectful of others by using "indoor voices" and behaving appropriately. See the Library 411 page for more information about the library's study zones.
Groups of 2 to 4 people may schedule the use of one of two group study rooms for an hour. The group study rooms can only booked by current Leeward CC students--registration will be verified. Students may extend use into a second hour if no one else has booked the room. Each room has a flatscreen display you can connect to using an HDMI cable or Apple TV. See the Group Study Room Policy for more details.
Kapunawai was established as a Hawaiian place of learning in the library. The room includes the Hawaiʻi-Pacific Reference Collection and functions as an instruction, staff meeting, and small events space. It is available as study space when the room is not scheduled for classes, meetings, or events. More about Kapunawai
The LRC and Writing Center are located in the Learning Commons. The LRC offers subject tutoring, and the Writing Center offers writing support. See the LRC and Writing Center websites for more information.
The library's upper level houses the main library collections, an information desk, computer workstations, and individual and small group study tables. Library staff offices and the Dean of Academic Services office are also located on this floor. The upper level has two areas zoned for Quiet and Silent study. See the Library 411 page for more information about the library's study zones.
The library is happy to offer power options to its patrons. Outlets can be found on both floors, typically on the outskirts. The library also offers courtesy charging stations for your mobile devices. These stations have both types of Apple connectors, Micro USB, and USB-C connectors for Android and Windows devices. Some charging stations also have USB ports if you need to plug in your own cable. Charging stations are located on both floors. Feel free to ask for assistance if you'd like help locating a power source.
