Using the Library

Study Spaces

Use of library resources and facilities is a privilege granted to registered students, faculty, and staff of Leeward Community College. Affiliated users and visitors to Leeward Community College are also welcome, but services are limited. 

All library users are expected to conduct themselves per the Library's Acceptable Behavior Policy.

2nd Floor (Main Level), Learning Commons

 

Open Study Area

The open-concept Learning Commons area is a collaborative study zone for students working individually or in groups. Some noise can be expected in this area, but we require everyone using the area to be respectful of others by using "indoor voices" and behaving appropriately. See the Library 411 page for more information about the library's study zones.

 

Kapunawai Room : Silent Study

Kapunawai - Silent Study Area

Kapunawai was established as a Hawaiian place of learning in the library. Kapunawai is currently designated for silent study. See the Library 411 page for more information about the library's study zones.

 

Learning Resource Center (LRC) and Writing Center

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) and Writing Center are located in the Learning Commons. The LRC offers subject tutoring, and the Writing Center offers writing support. See the tutoring webpage for more information. 

 

3rd Floor (Upper Level), Library : CLOSED for Renovation

Food and Drinks in the Learning Commons and Library

Food & Drink Policy: Only covered drinks and dry snacks allowed. Please enjoy your meals outside of the Learning Commons. Mahalo!

Covered drinks and dry snacks are allowed.  Please consult the library's Food & Drink Policy for more information about what is allowed in our facility. 

Charging Personal Devices

The library is happy to offer power options to its patrons. Outlets can typically found on the outskirts.

Some study pods and study booths offer AC outlets or USB charging ports and the library also offers courtesy charging stations for your mobile devices. These stations have both types of Apple connectors, Micro USB, and USB-C connectors for Android and Windows devices. Some charging stations have USB ports if you need to plug in your own cable. Feel free to ask for assistance if you'd like help locating a power source.
