Packing of the 3rd floor collections begins.
Books from the collection are selected to be made available downstairs during the renovation.
An unpleasant Monday morning surprise. Backed-up condensed water spilled out of air conditioning equipment in the ceiling, onto boxes of packed books. Work on packing was suspended for a couple of weeks to deal with this setback.
Books from the General and Hawaiʻi-Pacific collections that were selected to remain available during the closure of the third floor were moved down to the main level of the Learning Commons.
Bookshelves are being dismantled so they can be removed from the third floor.
With the closure of the third floor due to ongoing work to remove bookshelves, furniture, and equipment, all services and study spaces are now on the second floor. The Kapunawai Room has been designated as a quiet study space, and the Reference Desk has been relocated into one of the study rooms.
Work to dismantle the bookshelf ranges continues.
By the end of the month, the old shelves have all been disassembled. Furniture is being prepared for removal and storage. Equipment is being packed.
